In plain words

Read about the One, write about it, keep it in mind, sing about it — and you are carried safely across.

In your thoughts, your words, and your heart, hold the One with love, and it is glad; this is how you keep the Name.

There are many ways to turn toward what matters — use all of them.
The deeper layer

There are many happy ways to turn toward the One, and they all carry us across.

Har parh har likh har jap har gaa-o — read about the One, write about the One, repeat the Name, sing. These are four everyday ways the whole self can turn toward the One. They happen man bachan ridai, in our thoughts, our words and our heart.

It is like many streams flowing into one river. Listening, which Gurbani calls suniai, and remembering, called simran, flow together. That one river of attention carries us across the wide ocean of the world.

A Question to Sit With

Do you learn best by reading, writing, saying, or doing? How could you use more than one?
