With each and every breath, my mind remembers the Naam, the Name of the Lord; in this way, it finds the treasure of peace. ||1||

In plain words

Let me carry the water, fan the air, and grind the grain for those who love You, singing Your praises as I work.

With every breath my heart holds Your Name — and in this simple way it finds the treasure of peace.

Peace is often found in humble work done with a heart that is singing.
The deeper layer

Peace is found in small, humble work done with a singing heart.

Paanee pakhaa peesa-o — carrying water, waving the fan, grinding grain. These are the simplest chores, done for the sangat — people gathered together to remember the One. Today it might be setting out plates at the langar, the free community kitchen, or stacking chairs after a program.

This is where peace is found: bisraam niDh, the treasure of rest. It is not in big, grand deeds. It is in ordinary service, done with a heart that sings, breath by breath.

A Question to Sit With

What is a simple, helpful task you could do for others with a happy heart?
