You are kind and compassionate, the treasure of mercy, the Purifier of sinners, Lord of the world.

I obtain millions of joys, comforts and kingdoms, if You inspire me to chant Your Name with my mouth, even for an instant. ||3||

In plain words

You are kind and full of mercy, the One who makes the fallen clean again, keeper of the whole world.

Even a single instant of speaking Your Name brings a joy greater than a thousand kingdoms.

A single moment turned toward the One can hold more joy than a thousand kingdoms.
The deeper layer

Even one moment of the Name brings more joy than a million kingdoms.

Patit paavan means the One who lifts up and makes clean those who have fallen. Guru Arjan loves this name for the One. It always puts mercy ahead of judgment, like a parent who helps you up after a fall before asking what happened.

Then look at the size of the gift. Kot sookh aanand raaj — millions of joys, comforts and kingdoms. All of it comes from nimakh, a single instant of speaking the Name. The reward is far, far bigger than the effort.

A Question to Sit With

Have you had a tiny moment that somehow felt bigger and richer than a whole day?
