In plain words

You are the Giver, my keeper, my Master.

Moment by moment You care for me; I am Your child, leaning only on You.

You are cared for, not now and then, but moment by moment.
The deeper layer

The One cares for us every moment, the way a parent cares for a child.

The verse begins with a string of loving names. tum daatay thaakur partipaalak — You are the Giver, the Master, the One who looks after me. This care is not now and then. It is nimakh nimakh, moment by moment, all the time.

The one praying stands like a child. ham baarik tumray Dhaaray — I am Your child, held up by You alone. Think of a small child learning to walk while holding a parent's finger. Every step leans on that hand.

A Question to Sit With

What is something that takes care of you so steadily you rarely stop to notice?
