In plain words

Your Naam is the medicine, O kind One.

I feel shaken and small, and I cannot even grasp how vast You are — yet You Yourself keep caring for me.

Turning your attention toward the One is itself the healing.
The deeper layer

The Name is like medicine. It helps even when you do not understand how.

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line at the center of the shabad. A-ukhaDh tayro naam da-i-aal — Your Name is the medicine, O kind One. A-ukhaDh means medicine, a cure.

The singer feels shaken and small. He says tayree gat nahee jaanee — I cannot grasp how great You are. That is all right. A child with a fever does not need to understand medicine to be helped by it. The One aap karahi partipaal — You Yourself care for me and hold me.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you feel calm again when you are shaken up inside?
