The True Lord is Nanak's strength, honor and support; He alone is his protection. ||4||2||20||

In plain words

The gentle presence of the One is the support of the humble — their only savings and treasure.

The True One is my strength, my honor, and my resting place; He alone is my shelter.

The most valuable thing you can gather is not something you can lose.
The deeper layer

The One is the only savings that lasts forever.

Raas poonjee ayk — the One is the only savings worth gathering. People spend their lives collecting money, trophies, and followers. The humble gather the One instead. They lean on the charan kamal, the "lotus feet," a loving way to speak of the One's gentle presence.

Then Nanak names what the One is for him: taan maan deebaan saachaa. Taan is strength. Maan is honor. Deebaan is a court, a place where you are heard and kept safe. Everything a person might chase somewhere else is found here, in what is real. That is why the One is Nanak's shelter.

A Question to Sit With

What is something precious to you that no one could ever take away?
