In plain words

Kind One, give me the sort of understanding that keeps me turned toward You.

I ask for one gift: the humble dust at the feet of the saints.

One of the best things to wish for is simply a heart that stays turned toward what matters.
The deeper layer

The best thing to ask for is a mind that remembers.

Saa mat dayh da-i-aal parabh jit tumeh araaDhaa — kind One, give me the kind of understanding that keeps me remembering You. Mat means understanding.

Then comes the one gift asked for: rayn pag saaDhaa, the dust of the feet of the saints. It means humility, being glad to sit low and learn from holy people. Think of a new player who is happy to fetch the balls and learn from the team captains. Humility is the whole ask. Remembering the One is the whole aim.

A Question to Sit With

If you could ask for one quality to grow in yourself, what would it be?
