Remain firm and steady, and do not ever waver; take the Guru's Word as your Support.

In plain words

Stay steady inside; don't let yourself be shaken — let the teacher's words be your firm support.

Then a bright welcome greets you everywhere, and your face shines with a quiet, honest light.

Inner steadiness gives you a calm that others can sense around you.
The deeper layer

Standing steady on the teacher's words makes a person shine.

Asthir rahhu dolahu mat kabhoo gur kai bachan aDhaar — stay steady and never waver; let the teacher's word be your support. Bachan means word. Think of a tree with deep roots. The wind blows hard, but the tree stays standing.

The reward is jai jai kaar, a glad welcome everywhere. The face becomes oojal, bright and clear. Steadiness like that is something other people can feel.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you stay steady inside when things around you feel shaky?
