By the kindness and the Grace of the Saints, my mind has been purified; Nanak sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||3||34||

In plain words

I let go of every other thing I was holding onto and reached for one support. I said simply, 'Keep me, keep me safe.'

Through the kindness of the saints, my mind turned clear and clean. I found myself singing the One's praises.

Let go of the many, hold onto the One, and the mind clears.
The deeper layer

A clear mind is a gift we receive together, not a prize won alone.

Aan ti-aag bha-ay ik aasar — letting go of everything else, I leaned on the One alone. Aasar means support. Saran saran kar aa-ay — I came saying, "Keep me safe, keep me safe."

Sant anugrah bha-ay man nirmal — by the kindness of holy people, the mind becomes nirmal, clean and spotless. Anugrah means kindness and grace. That clearness comes through friendship with others. Think of learning to swim with a coach and friends in the pool. You get there together, not by yourself.

A Question to Sit With

When your thoughts feel cluttered, what kind of company helps them settle?
