Those who seek His Sanctuary, and meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, are blended with the Lord in celestial peace. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Sing to the Master with the love of your whole soul.

Those who take shelter with the One and hold the Naam in mind melt into a deep, easy peace.

Sing from the soul, and you dissolve into an easy, natural peace.
The deeper layer

Sing to the One with the love of your whole soul.

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line at the center of the shabad. Thaakur gaa-ee-ai aatam rang — sing to the Master with the soul's own color of love. Rang means color. Here it is the color of love that soaks through the soul.

Sahj samaavan sang — blending with the One in sahj, a natural, unforced ease. This singing is not for show. It is the soul recognizing where it already belongs. Think of humming your favorite song while you cook, with no one listening. You sing because it is yours.

A Question to Sit With

When you love a song, where do you feel it — and what would it be like to pray from that same place?
