Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The One Himself quiets the fire of endless wanting inside us.

In the shelter of the One, a heart is carried through, safe.

The fire of wanting is quieted not by force, but by shelter.
The deeper layer

The One puts out the fire of wanting and carries us to safety.

Tarisnaa agan parabh aap bujhaa-ee — the One personally puts out the fire of tarisnaa, restless craving. It is the itch to have more, then more again.

Then the shabad ends on shelter: uDhray parabh sarnaa-ee — in the One's shelter, we are carried across. We do not make that crossing on our own strength. It is a gift. Think of a tired swimmer pulled into a lifeboat. The swimmer did not build the boat. They were lifted into it.

A Question to Sit With

When your wanting feels like a fire, what cools it?
