Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The Master is the One who cuts through every chain that holds us.

So the servant keeps in mind the One who knows every heart from within.

The One who knows you within is the One who frees you.
The deeper layer

The One cuts us free from what ties us down, and knows us from the inside.

BanDhan kaatanhaar su-aamee — the Master who cuts banDhan, the ties that hold us. These are ties of craving and fear. Think of a kite string caught in a tree, and someone gently snipping it so the kite can fly.

Antarjaamee means the One who knows every heart from within. The servant holds this One in simran, remembrance. So freedom and closeness come in one breath.

A Question to Sit With

What is a chain — a habit or a fear — you'd love to have cut?
