When the Lord, my King, is totally pleased with me, He will break the bonds of Maya for me; my mind is imbued with the Word of the Guru's Shabad.

I am in ecstasy, forever and ever, meeting the Fearless Lord, the Lord of the Universe. Falling at the Lord's Feet, Nanak has found peace. ||8||

In plain words

When the One, my King, is glad with me, the ropes that tie me to worry fall away, and my mind soaks in the guiding Word.

Then there is joy, always and forever, in meeting the Fearless One who holds the whole world.

Nanak says: resting at the One's feet, I have found peace.

When grasping is cut, what is left is fearless peace.
The deeper layer

When the One is glad, the ropes fall away and joy stays.

Suparsan gopaal raa-ay — when the One, my King, is fully pleased with me. Then the banDhan, the ropes of grasping, are cut. The mind becomes raataa, dyed in the Guru's Word, like cloth soaked in color.

The One is nirbhai gobind, the Fearless One who cares for the whole world. And Nanak finds peace har charan paraataa, resting at the One's feet. It is like a tired child curling up at a parent's feet, safe and at peace.

A Question to Sit With

What worry would you most like to feel fall away?
