ਏਕਾ ਟੇਕ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਚੀਤ ॥

jis kichh karnaa so hamraa meet. ||1|| rahaa-o.
One who does this is my Friend. ||1||Pause||

In plain words

The One is the single support my heart leans on. Whoever holds all things in their hands — that is my Friend.

The One who holds everything is not a distant manager but your closest Friend to lean on.
The deeper layer

This one says the One who runs everything is also your closest Friend.

This is the Rahao line. Rahao means "pause." It is the center of the shabad, the line to stop and think about.

Aykaa tayk mayrai man cheet — "the One is the only support in my mind." Tayk means support, something you lean on. And it sits deep in man cheet, the depths of awareness.

Then the line gives a surprising picture of friendship. Jis kichh karnaa so hamraa meet — "the One in whose hands all doing lies, that is my Friend."

The One who runs everything is not a far-away boss. The One is a close Friend. Think of leaning back against a big, strong tree that also happens to love you. That is the healthy heart of surrender, or mannai, accepting. You lean your whole weight on a support that loves you back.

A Question to Sit With

What does it feel like to have one steady support you can lean your whole weight on?
