My Friend knows the inside of my heart completely.
My Friend is the all-powerful One, beyond every limit, the true Master of all.
This one says the Friend knows us completely from the inside, and is also bigger than everything.
Meet hamaaraa antarjaamee — "my Friend is the Inner-knower." Antarjaamee means the One who reads the heart from within.
Samrath purakh paarbarahm su-aamee — "the all-powerful Being, the Boundless One, the Master." Samrath means all-powerful. Paarbarahm means the One beyond every limit.
The shabad holds these two side by side. The Friend is very close, knowing me better than I know myself. And the Friend is vast, bigger than the sky.
Think of a small child held by a parent in a huge crowd. The parent knows the child's every mood. And the parent is strong enough to keep the child safe. To be fully known and fully safe at once is the deepest comfort there is.
What would it feel like to be completely known by someone and completely safe with them at the same time?
