Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
I am Yours, and You are my Master — I belong to You. Whatever honor or greatness is mine, it is really all Yours.
The shabad ends with a warm "I belong to You."
Ham daasay tum thaakur mayray — "I am Your servant; You are my Master." Here daas, servant, is not about being made to obey. It is glad belonging. The seeker happily gives themselves to the One they trust.
Maan mahat naanak prabh tayray — "my honor and greatness are Yours, God." Even my good name is handed back to the Source.
Think of a young player whose goal wins the game. They run straight to the coach who taught them. The win belongs to both.
So there is no pride left to guard. Whatever is good in me flows from You. The shabad ends in a restful humility. It is the calm of someone who has found their true home in the Friend.
What does it feel like to belong somewhere so fully that you don't have to prove anything?
