Remembering the Lord in meditation, all fears are dispelled. ||1||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
When I sing about the goodness of the One, my heart opens like a flower turning to the sun. Holding that One in mind, the fears that crowded me simply melt away.
Singing about the good opens the heart like a flower to the sun.
Har gun japat kamal pargaasai -- praising the One, the heart-lotus blossoms. The lotus opening is Gurbani's classic image of a heart coming alive. Taraas sabh naasai -- all fear dissolves. The teaching is experiential, a devotional witness rather than a guarantee: praise is not a duty but a blossoming; remembrance is not fearful but fear-dissolving. Never frame the singing negatively (guidelines).
