ਨਾਮੁ ਭਗਤ ਕੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥

ਨਾਮੋ ਧਨੁ ਨਾਮੋ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੁ ॥੧॥

For those who love the One, the Name is the very support of their breath -- as necessary as air. It is their wealth and their daily work all at once; everything they do rests on it.
For those who love the One, the Name is woven into breath, work, and wealth alike.
Naam bhagat kai paraan adhaar -- the Name is the support of the devotees' life-breath. Naamo Dhan, naamo bi-uhaar -- the Name is their wealth and their occupation. Guru Arjan layers the Name into every part of life: breath, money, work. It is not a religious add-on but the ground of the whole day. Naam is the living presence of the One held in awareness.
