Singing the goodness of the One, I found a resting place of peace. My troubles quieted, and the thing that used to torment me lost its grip on me completely.
Singing the good quiets what used to torment you.
The Rahao. Sukh bisraam paa-i-aa gun gaa-ay -- singing praise, I found the home of peace. Saram miti-aa mayree hatee balaa-ay -- toil ended, the tormentor destroyed. The original balaa-ay (demon) is rendered gently as 'the thing that tormented me' -- an inner torment quieted, not a literal monster. Peace came through song, not struggle.
