In plain words

Drink in the Name the way you would drink cool water on a burning day. When you keep the One in mind again and again, the restless heat inside you — all that wanting and worrying — quiets down and cools.

Keeping the One in mind cools the fever of endless wanting like water on a burning day.
The deeper layer

Keeping the One in mind cools the burning heat of always wanting more.

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line, the still center of the shabad. Amrit naam peevhu mayray bhaa-ee — drink the Name like amrit, sweet nectar, my brothers and sisters. Simar simar sabh tapat bujhaa-ee — remembering again and again, all the heat is put out.

Tapat means inner heat. It is the burn of wanting more, being restless, never satisfied. Think of a cold glass of water on a hot, dusty day. The Name is water on that fire. It does not forbid wanting things. It quenches the deeper thirst underneath.

A Question to Sit With

What does it feel like inside you when your wanting finally goes quiet?
