Remembrance Takes Apart Where the Trouble Lived

ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
simrat simrat parabh kaa naa-o.
Meditating, meditating in remembrance on God's Name,
ਸਗਲ ਰੋਗ ਕਾ ਬਿਨਸਿਆ ਥਾਉ ॥੨॥
sagal rog kaa binsi-aa thaa-o. ||2||
the dwelling of all disease is destroyed. ||2||

In plain words

Keeping the Name in mind again and again, the very place where sickness lived inside me was dismantled. The trouble did not just quiet down — its home was taken apart.

Remembrance does not just quiet the trouble — it takes apart the place the trouble lived.
The deeper layer

This one says that remembering the One takes apart the very place where trouble lived.

Simrat simrat parabh kaa naa-o — remembering the One's Name, again and again. Sagal rog kaa binsi-aa thaa-o — the thaa-o, the home, of every rog, sickness, is taken apart.

Notice the word thaa-o, place. Remembrance does not just calm the trouble for a while. It removes the ground the trouble stood on. Think of weeds in a garden. Cutting off the tops helps for a week. Pulling out the roots clears the spot.

In this shabad, the "sickness" is often read as the ache of feeling apart from the One. That is a way of understanding the verse. It is not a claim about curing an illness of the body or the mind.

A Question to Sit With

What worry has a 'home' in you that you would like to take apart for good?
