In intuitive peace and poise, chant the Word of the Lord's Bani.

aath pahar parabh simrahu paraanee. ||3||
Twenty-four hours a day, O mortal, meditate on God. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

With a natural, easy poise, let the words of the teaching rise in you. All through the day and night, keep the One gently in mind — not as a strain, but as steadily as breathing.

Let remembrance rise with natural ease, steady as breathing, all through the day.
The deeper layer

This one says to let remembrance rise as easily and steadily as breathing.

Sahj subhaa-ay bolai har banee — with sahj, natural ease, speak the har banee, the Guru's words about the One. Sahj is the calm, unforced balance of a heart that is in tune.

Aath pahar parabh simrahu paraanee — through all aath pahar, the eight watches of the day and night, remember the One. In other words, all the time.

The key word is sahj. This is not hard, forced effort. It is the relaxed, unhurried flow of a heart that has stopped fighting itself. Think of breathing. You never have to force it, and it keeps you going all day long.

A Question to Sit With

What good thing in your life feels easy and natural rather than forced?
