Peace Has One Ever-Giving Source: the One

ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
tujh bin paarbarahm nahee ko-ay.
Without You, O Supreme Lord God, there is no one.
ਤੁਮਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tumree kirpaa tay sadaa sukh ho-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
By Your Grace, everlasting peace is obtained. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Without you there is no one else at all — you are the whole of it. And it is by your grace that a lasting peace is always here to be found.

Because there is only the One, lasting peace has one ever-giving source.
The deeper layer

There is only the One, so there is only one source of peace, and it never stops giving.

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line at the center of the shabad. Tujh bin paarbarahm nahee ko-ay — without You, O Paarbarahm, there is no one. Paarbarahm means the Supreme One, beyond everything.

Tumree kirpaa tay sadaa sukh ho-ay — by Your grace, there is lasting peace. Kirpaa is grace, and sukh is peace.

Two big ideas sit in one breath. There is no second, only the One. And grace is always there. Because there is only the One, peace has only one source. Think of a spring in the hills that keeps giving water, day and night. That source is always giving.

A Question to Sit With

Where do you look for peace — and where does the deepest kind actually come from?
