do not suffer pain, even in dreams. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

When the One truly lives inside someone's mind, sorrow cannot reach them — not even in a dream.

The shabad's praise: where the One dwells in the mind, there is no pain even in dreams.
The deeper layer

This one says that when the One lives in your mind, peace goes all the way down, even into your dreams.

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line. It is the center of the whole shabad. Jaa kai har vasi-aa man maahee — those whose minds the One lives in. Taa ka-o dukh supnai bhee naahee — they feel no pain, not even in dreams.

Why dreams? Dreams are where fears often pop up without asking. You can be fine all day, and then a worry shows up at night. The words supnai bhee, "even in dreams," reach that deep.

When the One lives that deep inside, even the sleeping mind is at peace.

A Question to Sit With

What would it be like if your calm went all the way down into your dreams?
