This Rare Life Is Worth Its Weight in the Name

dulabh dayh ho-ee parvaan.
This human body, so difficult to obtain, is redeemed

satgur tay paa-i-aa naam neesaan. ||2||
when one receives the banner of the Naam from the True Guru. ||2||

In plain words

This human life is rare and precious, so hard to come by.

It becomes truly worth something when the guide gives you the clear mark of the Name to carry.

The hard-to-obtain human body becomes parvaan — approved — when it carries the mark of the Name.
The deeper layer

A human life is rare and hard to come by, and it becomes truly worth something when it carries the Name.

Dulabh dayh ho-ee parvaan — the body so hard to obtain is accepted and made whole. Dulabh means hard to get. Parvaan means approved, fulfilled, counted as worthwhile.

What makes it so? Satgur tay paa-i-aa naam neesaan — receiving from the true guide the neesaan of the Name. A neesaan is a banner, a badge, a mark. Think of a team jersey. When you wear it, everyone can see which team you belong to. The Name is like that. It shows whose you are, and where you belong.

A Question to Sit With

What makes your one life feel rare and precious to you?
