See the One Everywhere and Resting Becomes Natural

Slave Nanak has entered the Lord's Sanctuary. ||4||69||138||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Wherever I look — in every direction, in everything — I see the One spread all through it. And so I simply rest in the shelter of the One.

When you start seeing the One everywhere you look, resting in it becomes natural.
The deeper layer

The shabad ends with a wide-open view: wherever I look, I see the One, so I rest in the One's shelter.

Jat kat daykh-a-u tat rahi-aa samaa-ay — wherever I look, there the One is, filling everything. Naanak daas har kee sarnaa-ay — Nanak, the servant, rests in the shelter of the One.

This is what the whole shabad was building toward. The One is not somewhere far away. The One is everywhere you look. Think of sunlight on a bright morning. It is on the trees, the street, your hands, all at once. When you see the One like that, resting in that shelter comes easily.

A Question to Sit With

Where do you look and feel that everything is somehow connected?
