In plain words

Once the color of the One's love has soaked into you, it never washes out. And the perfect guide is the one who helps you truly understand it, and makes it yours.

The color of real love soaks all the way through and never washes out.
The deeper layer

Love for the One is like a dye that soaks all the way in and never washes out.

Raam rang kaday utar na jaa-ay — the rang of the One never fades. Rang means color, or dye, and it also means love. It is the key word of this whole shabad.

Think of a T-shirt dyed a deep color. A cheap print on the surface peels off after a few washes. But a shirt dyed all the way through keeps its color for years. Love for the One is that kind of dye. The quick pleasures of the world are more like the cheap print.

Gur pooraa jis day-ay bujhaa-ay — only those understand it to whom the perfect Guru gives understanding. So even understanding this love is a gift.

A Question to Sit With

What is a love in your life so deep it has become part of who you are?
