In plain words

Everyone should make the One their friend like this — for from this Friend, no one ever walks away empty-handed.

Make the One your friend — the one Friend from whom no one ever leaves empty-handed.
The deeper layer

This one invites everyone to make the One their friend.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. aisaa meet karahu sabh ko-ay — everyone, make such a friend. Meet means friend. Sabh ko-ay means everyone, with no one left out.

What kind of friend? jaa tay birthaa ko-ay na ho-ay — one from whom no one goes away empty-handed.

Think of a friend whose door is always open. Whenever you knock, they are home. This Friend is completely reliable, and the giving never runs dry.

A Question to Sit With

What makes a friend someone you can always count on?
