Keep the One in Mind and Ask Only to Meet

ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
sadaa sadaa simra-o parabh su-aamee.
Forever and ever, meditate on God, your Lord and Master.
ਮਿਲੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥੪॥੮੨॥੧੫੧॥
mil naanak har antarjaamee. ||4||82||151||
O Nanak, meet with the Lord, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts. ||4||82||151||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Forever and always, let me keep the One in mind — my closest Master and friend. Come meet me, O One who reads every heart from the inside; I am here.

Keep the One always in mind, and ask the heart-knower simply to meet you.
The deeper layer

The song ends with a simple wish: to remember the One always, and to meet the One who knows every heart.

This closing verse carries the name Nanak, the name every Guru signed with. Sadaa sadaa simra-o — forever and ever, may I remember. The tenderness is in mil naanak har antarjaamee. It asks the antarjaamee, the One who sees straight into every heart, to come and meet us.

It is like hoping your best friend will come over. You do not want them far away and polite. You want them right here with you. The closest name for the One carries the closest wish of all: not respect from a distance, but nearness and meeting.

A Question to Sit With

What would it feel like to be fully known by someone — and welcomed anyway?
