Verse 4 of 5

Good Company Settles a Peace Hard Times Can't Shake

ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
saaDhoo sang karahu sabh ko-ay.
Everyone who joins the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy,
ਸਦਾ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਫਿਰਿ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥
sadaa kali-aan fir dookh na ho-ay. ||3||
obtains eternal peace; pain does not afflict them any longer. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Everyone who keeps company with the good finds a lasting kind of well-being.

It is a peace that settles in, and it does not leave when the next hard thing comes.

Keeping good company settles a lasting peace that hard times can't fully unsettle.
The deeper layer

Good company brings a peace that stays. And the door is open to everyone.

Saadhoo sang karahu sabh ko-ay — everyone, join the company of the good. Saadhoo sang means spending time with people who live close to the One. The fruit is sadaa kali-aan, lasting well-being. And fir dookh na ho-ay — pain does not take hold anymore.

The verse makes a strong promise. One gentle way to hear it: hard days may still come, but they no longer move in and stay. Think of a house with strong walls. The rain still falls outside, but inside you stay warm and dry. Good company helps build those walls.

A Question to Sit With

Who are the people that leave you feeling more peaceful after time with them?
