A Worthwhile Life Sees One in Every Heart

ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਆਇਆ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥
jag meh aa-i-aa so parvaan.
Blessed is their coming into this world,
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਅਪਣਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜਾਣੁ ॥੩॥
ghat ghat apnaa su-aamee jaan. ||3||
if they recognize their Lord and Master in each and every heart. ||3||

In plain words

A life becomes truly worthwhile when a person learns to see the same One living inside every single heart.

When you can look at anyone and sense that presence in them, your coming into this world counts for something real.

A worthwhile life is one that learns to see the same One shining in every heart.
The deeper layer

A life counts for something real when you see the One in every heart.

Jag meh aa-i-aa so parvaan — that person's coming into the world is parvaan, accepted and worthwhile. Ghat ghat apnaa su-aamee jaan — if they know their Master in ghat ghat, each and every heart.

This is a big, welcoming picture. The One is not only in temples and holy books. The One is in every person you pass. Think of walking down a school hallway and knowing the same light shines out of every face. That is what Ik Onkar, "One Creator," looks like in daily life. If all is one, the divine looks back at you from everyone.

A Question to Sit With

What changes in how you treat someone when you imagine the same light living inside them that lives inside you?
