The Harm You Fling Circles Back to You

ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ॥

In the beginning, and throughout the ages, His glory is manifest.
ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਮੁਆ ਉਪਜਿ ਵਡ ਤਾਪੁ ॥੨॥

The slanderer died after contracting the deadly fever. ||2||

In plain words

From the very beginning of time, the greatness of the One has been plain to see, shining through everything.

And those who try to tear others down with lies find that the harm they spread comes back to unsettle them.

The harm you fling at others has a way of circling back to unsettle your own peace.
The deeper layer

Aad jugaad pargat partaap — "from the beginning and through the ages, the glory is manifest." The One's greatness is not a recent claim; it is woven into time itself. The second line's literal describes a nindak — a slanderer, one who tears others down with false words — brought low. In the wellbeing lens we read this not as gleeful punishment but as a natural principle: the harm you fling outward has a way of returning to disturb your own peace. The teaching warns against becoming the one who tears others down.

A Question to Sit With

Have you noticed how spreading a mean story about someone often ends up making you feel worse, not better?
