Every fear melts away in Your Name; in good company I sing what is beautiful about the One. Colored through with that love, worry lifts. The one who has received the guidance of the wise truly belongs to the One. No dread of death remains, and every real hope is filled.
This verse holds both the pause line and the next verse, so it carries the heart of the shabad.
The pause line, the rahaa-o, is the center of a shabad. Here it says sabh bhai miteh tumaarai naa-ay: all fears are wiped away in Your Name. And it is sung bhaytat sang, when meeting in good company.
Then the refrain har sang raatay returns. For the one colored with the One, chintaa, worry, lifts. The one who has the saaDh kaa manntaa, the guidance of the wise, belongs to the One. Jam kee nahee taraas: the fear of death does not haunt them. And every hope is filled.
Think of a small child on a parent's lap during a thunderstorm. The thunder is still loud, but the fear is gone. That is how a heart colored with the One can meet what used to scare it.
What is a worry that feels lighter when you're with people who care about you?
