Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Well-being has come; peace has arrived in my home. In good company, misfortune slips away. My eyes are made clean just by seeing the One's presence; blessed is the head that bows at those feet. Working in the One's service, this body finds its purpose, and by the grace of good and true people, I have reached the highest place.
This one says that peace comes home when we spend time with good people.
The rahaa-o is the "pause" line, the center of the whole shabad. It says: khaym bha-i-aa kusal ghar aa-ay — well-being has come, and peace has arrived home. How? Bhaytat saadhsang ga-ee balaa-ay — meeting the saadhsang, the company of good and holy people, misfortune goes away.
Then peace touches the whole body. The eyes are puneet, made clean, by seeing the One's daras, presence. Blessed is the forehead that touches the charan kamal, the lotus feet. That is a picture of loving respect.
Gobind kee tahal safal ih kaaN-i-aa — serving the One makes this body safal, full of purpose. Think of hands that feel happiest when they are helping to cook a family meal.
And by sant parsaad, the kindness of good people, one reaches param pad, the highest place.
When has being around good people made your worries feel lighter and your day feel brighter?
