Seeing the One's Presence Cools the Heart

ਦਰਸਨ ਦੇਖਿ ਸੀਤਲ ਮਨ ਭਏ ॥
darsan daykh seetal man bha-ay.
Beholding the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, my mind has become cool and tranquil,
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਗਏ ॥੩॥
janam janam kay kilbikh ga-ay. ||3||
and the sinful mistakes of countless incarnations have been washed away. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Seeing the presence of the One, my mind has grown cool and calm.

And the weight of old mistakes, piled up across so much of my life, has lifted and washed away.

Seeing the One's presence cools the heart and lifts the weight of old mistakes.
The deeper layer

This one says that seeing the One's presence cools the heart and lifts old weights.

Darsan daykh — seeing the presence. It makes the mind seetal, which means cool and calm. That coolness shows up again and again in these shabads. It is the sign of a mind that has settled down.

Think of coming inside from a hot, sweaty day and drinking cold water. Your whole body calms down.

Janam janam kay kilbikh ga-ay — the faults of many lifetimes went away. In plain words, it is old mistakes, piled up over a long time. The point is a weight carried for a long time, finally lifted.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you set down a mistake you've been carrying, so you feel light again?
