Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The greatness of the One is more than words can hold. And so the one who trusts simply stays, always, inside that shelter.
Some greatness is too big for words, so you rest inside it.
Kahan na jaa-ay parabh kee vadi-aa-ee — the greatness of God cannot be told. Words simply run out. It is like trying to scoop up the ocean with a teaspoon.
The answer is not to strain for more words. It is to rest. Naanak daas sadaa sarnaa-ee — Nanak, the servant, stays always in the shelter. The shabad ends where it began, safe in being held. Now it also knows that the One who holds us is greater than anything that could be said.
What is something so wonderful that instead of describing it, you just want to stay near it?
