Some Realities Are Too Vast to Describe, Yet Known

ਬਰਨਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਉ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਰੰਗਾ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੇ ॥
baran na saaka-o tumray rangaa gun niDhaan sukh-daatay.
I cannot describe Your Manifestations, O Treasure of Excellence, O Giver of peace.
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਜਾਤੇ ॥੨॥
agam agochar parabh abhinaasee pooray gur tay jaatay. ||2||
God is Inaccessible, Incomprehensible and Imperishable; He is known through the Perfect Guru. ||2||

In plain words

I couldn't begin to describe all Your wonders — You who hold every good thing, You who give peace.

You are beyond my reach, beyond my full understanding, never-fading — and yet through the true Teacher, I have truly come to know You.

Some realities are too vast to describe and can still be truly known and felt.
The deeper layer

Baran na saaka-o tumray rangaa — 'I cannot describe Your play of colors / your wonders.' The One is gun nidhaan (treasure of virtues), sukh-daatay (giver of peace). Then the great names: agam agochar... abhinaasee — unreachable, imperceptible, imperishable. And yet — the crucial turn — pooray gur tay jaatay: through the perfect Teacher the unknowable becomes known. The paradox of the whole shabad again: the One is beyond words and beyond grasp, yet genuinely met and known through the living teaching. Vastness and intimacy reconciled.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever known something deeply — a feeling, a bond — that you couldn't fully put into words?
