Some Carry Such Peace That Nearness Is a Gift

ਮਹਿਮਾ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੇਤਕ ਗਨੀਐ ਜਨ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ॥
mahimaa taa kee kaytak ganee-ai jan paarbarahm rang raatay.
How can I recount the praises of those humble beings who are attuned to the Love of the Supreme Lord God?
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਤਿਨਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਉਨ ਸਮਸਰਿ ਅਵਰ ਨ ਦਾਤੇ ॥੧॥
sookh sahj aanand tinaa sang un samsar avar na daatay. ||1||
Peace, intuitive poise and bliss are with them. There are no other givers equal to them. ||1||

In plain words

How could I even count the greatness of those whose hearts are soaked in love for the Supreme One?

Peace, easy calm, and quiet joy live with them wherever they go. There is no gift on earth that compares to being near them.

Some people carry such peace inside them that just being near them is a gift.
The deeper layer

Mahimaa taa kee kaytak ganee-ai — 'how much of their greatness can be counted?' — it overflows measure. Jan paarbarahm rang raatay — humble beings dyed (raatay, colored through) in love for the Supreme. What surrounds them: sookh sahj aanand — peace, sahj (natural equilibrium), and bliss. The striking claim: un samsar avar na daatay — there is no giver equal to them; simply being in their presence is a greater gift than anything else one could receive. The company of the God-loving is itself the treasure.

A Question to Sit With

Is there anyone whose calm or joy seems to rub off on everyone around them?
