How fortunate you are if you ever meet such a person — one whose presence quietly cuts away what tangles you.
I would serve and honor someone like that with all my heart, grateful just to be near them.
The shabad ends by pointing to a real person who lives this union.
Aisaa jogee vadbhaagee bhaytai — "by great good fortune, such a yogi is met." Being near them does something. Maa-i-aa kay bandhan kaatai — they "cut the bonds of Maya." Maya is the pull of things and attachments that tangle us up.
Sayvaa pooj kara-o tis moorat kee — "I would serve and honor such a one." Nanak then speaks of kissing that person's feet. It is a sign of deep thanks and respect for someone who lives this union.
Think of a coach whose calm makes the whole team play better. Just being near them loosens the knots.
So the song ends on the real thing. It is not a yogi's outfit. It is a true soul whose nearness helps others go free.
Have you ever met someone so genuinely good and calm that being near them made you want to be better?
