Adoring His Lotus Feet in the mind, the fear of death is banished. ||2||

In plain words

From the very beginning, before you could ask for anything, you were held and protected. And when life feels like a wide, rough sea, this is the One who carries you safely to the far shore. Keep the beautiful presence of the Oneness in your heart — steady as flower-soft feet you can hold onto — and even the fear of endings loses its grip.

You were held before you could ask, and you are carried safely across.
The deeper layer

You were held before you could ask for anything, and you are carried safely across.

The verse uses strong old pictures. It shows the womb as a hard, dark pit, the world as a fearsome ocean, and the dread of death. Bhavjal means the world-ocean, the wide, rough sea of life. Jam kee taraas means the fear of death.

Inside those pictures is a deep comfort, and that is the heart of it. You were protected from your very first moment. You are carried across the deep water, like a ferry taking you safely to the far shore. And keeping the One in your heart melts away the fear of endings. Charan kamal aaraaDhat man meh — adoring the lotus feet in the mind. The lotus is a flower that grows clean and lovely out of muddy water.

The teaching is safety, not fright.
