Fill Up on the Good and Wanting's Poison Can't Hold

The poison of corruption is spread out far and wide.

In plain words

There is a lot in the world that can quietly poison a heart. Greed, meanness, the hunger to have more and more: it is spread thick everywhere.

But those who keep remembering the Oneness, and gather its good qualities, rise right above it, untouched and safe.

Fill up on the good, and the poison of endless wanting can't take hold.
The deeper layer

Greed and endless wanting are like a poison spread everywhere, and the way to stay safe is to fill up on goodness.

Bikh bikhi-aa pasree at ghanee — the poison is spread far and wide. Bikhi-aa is the harmful pull of maya, the shiny world that makes us want more and more. It means grabbing, fooling ourselves, and wanting without end.

The rescue comes from growing good on the inside, right in the middle of the world. Ubray jap jap har gunee — those who keep remembering the One, and grow in goodness, rise above the poison.

Think of a glass already full of fresh water. There is no room left for anything dirty to pour in. Being soaked in goodness is the cure for being soaked in poison.

A Question to Sit With

What good habits keep your heart clean when the world feels a little poisonous?
