Waking Up Clears Confusion and Fear at Once

matvaaro maa-i-aa so-i-aa.
Intoxicated with Maya, the people are asleep.

Meeting the Guru, doubt and fear are dispelled. ||3||

In plain words

It is easy to drift through life half-asleep, dazzled by shiny things, not quite awake to what matters. But meeting the teaching is like being gently woken. The confusion clears, the worry lifts, and you see plainly again.

Waking up clears both the confusion and the fear at once.
The deeper layer

Chasing shiny things is like sleepwalking, and meeting the teaching wakes you up.

Matvaaro maa-i-aa so-i-aa — dizzy with maya, people are asleep. Maya is the pull of things that glitter but do not last. Picture someone walking through a whole day with eyes glued to a screen. They miss the sky, the people, everything that matters.

Gur bhaytat bharam bha-o kho-i-aa — meeting the teaching, bharam, confusion, and bha-o, fear, both fall away. Notice that they leave together. Waking up clears the fog, and it clears the fear too. That is because a lot of fear grows in the fog of not seeing clearly.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you feel truly awake and clear, instead of drifting through your day?
