Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Rest your mind on the One — just the One. Do that, and something opens: you begin to see that same Oneness shining out from inside every single heart you meet. Not far away in the sky, but here, in everyone.
Rest your mind on the One, and you begin to see the One in everybody.
Kaho naanak ayk dhi-aa-i-aa — Nanak says, keep your mind on the One. Ayk means One. Ghat ghat nadree aa-i-aa — then the One is seen in every heart. Ghat means a heart, or a body.
This is where the whole shabad was heading. It began with crossing a stormy sea. It ends with new eyes. The goal of the inner journey is not a heaven far away. It is seeing the same One everywhere, and most of all in other people.
Think of looking around your classroom, your street, even the grumpy bus driver, and noticing the same light in every face.
If the same spark were in every person you meet, how might you treat them differently?
