What Method Can't Grab, Being Gathered In Gives

In plain words

I tried all sorts of clever methods to find You, and none of them worked. Then the teaching reached out, took me by the hand, and quietly drew me into Your service. What all my strategies could not do, being gently gathered in did.

What you cannot grab with clever methods can arrive when you are simply gathered in.
The deeper layer

This one says that what clever methods cannot catch comes when we are gathered in.

Anik jugat nahee paa-i-aa — by many ways, I did not find You. A jugat is a method, a trick, a technique. The seeking mind loves these. Here, every one of them fails.

Then the turn. Gur chaakar lai laa-i-aa — the Guru took hold of me and made me Your servant. Notice who is doing the work. The seeker does not win a prize. The seeker is taken, gathered in.

Think of a child trying every key on a big ring to open a door. Then a parent opens it from the inside and says, "Come in." That is grace. It is received, not built.

A Question to Sit With

Has something you searched hard for ever come only when you stopped forcing it?
