Verse 2 of 5

In an Instant, the One Creates and Renews

ਐਸੋ ਹੈ ਰੇ ਖਸਮੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥
aiso hai ray khasam hamaaraa.
Such is my Lord and Master.
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਸਾਜਿ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
khin meh saaj savaaranhaaraa. ||1||
In an instant, He creates and embellishes. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

This is what my Great One is like: in a single instant, the One can shape and beautify anything at all. What looks broken or plain, the One can make lovely in a moment. Nothing is beyond fixing, nothing beyond blessing.

The One creates and renews in an instant — hope enough for what feels stuck.
The deeper layer

Aiso hai ray khasam hamaaraa — "such is my Master." Khin meh saaj savaaranhaaraa — "in an instant, the One creates and adorns (savaaray)." The verb savaarnaa means both to fix and to beautify. The verse praises the Divine's power to create and renew; read contemplatively, that praise can sustain hope where a situation seems fixed or depleted, rather than promising that every broken thing will be mended. This grounds the servant's contentment from the last pauri — you can rest because the One you rest in is that capable.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you thought couldn't get better that surprised you by turning around?
