Servant Nanak is engaged in the Lord's work. ||4||11||149||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The One is my support, the One is my steady anchor — nothing else needs to hold me up. And so I am simply busy with the work of the Oneness, gladly. My whole life has one root, and everything grows from there.

One steady root, and your whole life can grow calmly from it.
The deeper layer

Ayk tayk ayko aadhaaraa — "the One is my prop (tek), the One my foundation (aadhaar)." The doubling of ayk (One) drives home single-pointedness: one support, not a scramble of many. Har kee laagaa kaaraa — "engaged in the Oneness's work." The shabad closes where it began, with the joyful servant — now shown to be someone whose whole life has a single root, from which all the rest steadily grows.

A Question to Sit With

What is the one steady thing at the root of your life that everything else grows from?
