See the One in Everyone and Jealousy Falls

ਅਚਰਜੁ ਏਕੁ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਿ ਐਸੀ ਬੂਝ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
achraj ayk sunhu ray bhaa-ee gur aisee boojh bujhaa-ee.
Listen to this wonder, O Siblings of Destiny: the Guru has given me this understanding.
ਲਾਹਿ ਪਰਦਾ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਜਉ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਤਉ ਬਿਸਰੀ ਤਾਤਿ ਪਰਾਈ ॥੩॥
laahi pardaa thaakur ja-o bhayti-o ta-o bisree taat paraa-ee. ||3||
I threw off the veil of illusion, when I met my Lord and Master; then, I forgot my jealousy of others. ||3||

In plain words

Listen to something wonderful, my friends. The teaching gave me this understanding.

When the veil lifted and I truly met the One, my jealousy of other people simply fell away.

When you truly see the One in everyone, jealousy has nothing left to stand on.
The deeper layer

When you see the One in everyone, jealousy has nothing left to stand on.

Achraj ayk sunhu ray bhaa-ee — listen, friends, to one wonder. The wonder is simple and deep. Laahi pardaa — the veil came off. Bisree taat paraa-ee — jealousy of others was forgotten.

Seeing the One in all things pulls envy up by the roots. There is no longer a separate "other" to measure yourself against. Think of your own two hands. The left hand is never jealous of the right. They belong to the same body.

This is Ik Onkar, "there is One," lived out with other people. Comparing and envying grow from the feeling that we are separate. When the oneness is glimpsed, they melt away.

A Question to Sit With

When you feel jealous of someone, what would change if you remembered you're deeply connected to them?
