Good Actions Bring You Into True Company

ਕਰਮੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਤਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
karam hovai satsang milaa-ay.
Through the karma of good actions, one joins the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation.
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਬੈਸਿ ਸੁ ਥਾਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har gun gaavai bais so thaa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Sing the Glories of the Lord, sitting in that place. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Good actions, ripening, bring you into the company of true-hearted people. So sit there and sing the One's praises.

Good actions bring you into true company -- so sit there and sing.
The deeper layer

The Rahao names Sat Sangat -- the constitutive ground of Amar Das's whole theology -- reached through karam, rendered here as good actions, though the term also carries the sense of grace. The instruction is communal: sing together, in that place. Practice is not solitary.

A Question to Sit With

Which gatherings leave you better than you arrived? What happens there?
