My hunger for one thrill after another died down, and so did the arguing and the puffed-up "look at me."
My attention is dyed into the One, held there by the vast flow of existence.
The scramble for status and being seen as important — that's over.
Grace looked my way, and peace settled deep in my soul.
When the scramble to look important ends, peace can settle deep inside.
Saad rahay baadan ahankaaraa — my hunger for thrills is gone, and so is the arguing and ahankaar, the puffed-up pride.
Chit har si-o raataa hukam apaaraa — my mind is colored with the One, by the endless Hukam. Hukam is the flow of existence. It is what holds the attention steady. This is being in tune, not straining hard.
Jaat rahay pat kay aachaaraa — the show of caste and honor is over. Jaat is caste, the old ranking of people by birth. Pat is honor, being seen as important. Letting go of acting out caste and status puts everyone on the same level. It is a quietly bold line.
Darisat bha-ee sukh aatam dhaaraa — a glance of grace, and peace settled in the soul. Think of a kid who stops trying to be the most popular one in class. Suddenly they can just enjoy their friends.
How much of your energy goes into wanting to look important? What would you do with that energy if you got it back?
