Kindness Settled My Scattered Attention

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
kar kirpaa mayraa chit laa-i-aa.
In His Mercy, He attuned my consciousness to the Lord.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਏਕੁ ਬੁਝਾਇਆ ॥੫॥
satgur mo ka-o ayk bujhaa-i-aa. ||5||
The True Guru has led me to understand the One Lord. ||5||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

It was through kindness poured over me that my restless attention finally settled and turned toward the One. The teacher within helped me understand this single truth: there is only One.

Kindness settled my scattered attention and let me understand the One.
The deeper layer

Understanding the One came as a gift of kindness.

Here the feeling turns to grace. Kar kirpaa — in kindness. Kirpaa is grace, kindness that is given freely. It is received, not earned.

Satgur mo ka-o ayk bujhaa-i-aa — the true Guru helped me understand ayk, the One.

Understanding is a gift. It comes when you become open to it. Think of a friend who explains a hard math problem, and suddenly it clicks. You did not force the click. It came when you were ready.

A Question to Sit With

What helps your busy attention finally settle — and turn toward something that matters?
